Testimonials

Its always important for people offering classes, workshops, or private sessions to help build confidence for prospective clients by providing actual testimonials from previous clients. There are a lot of shady people promising the world and in the end they just want your money. I can only plug my own legitimacy so much. I think it means more coming from those who have now worked with me. I copy/pasted their emails, unedited. The only prompting I asked for was an honest evaluation of my sessions…..

Thanks for the fun lesson last night! I had a great time and was really encouraged by your advice and constructive critique.  I was able to identify several weakness I have, and I now have a clearer gameplan for starting my VO career.  I would highly recommend this lesson to anyone who is interested in starting a VO career, or just wanting to see what it’s like from “the other side of the TV”.  I overcame my initial nervousness almost instantly, and was able to relax, laugh, and learn!

I have been wanting to do a voice consult with Kyle for a while now, ever since I got married to my husband. But with his immigration stuff going on, it was a long wait. But now, I was finally able to do it. Kyle was very straight-forward, helpful and kind during the process. He gave me plenty of advice during both the anime and video game portion. Even though I messed up during one of the anime takes, we both had a good laugh.  I wouldn’t mind doing it again, but I know that I can do more online voice acting along with real voice acting with confidence. So, thanks for this consult, Kyle!

To be honest, I was a little nervous when the hour drew close for my session.  I’d spoken with Kyle at Anime Expo before, but this was a new experience.  Well, that uneasiness evaporated very quickly once the session started.  Kyle was incredibly helpful, and gave me invaluable suggestions on how to improve what I already knew, and what I could already do.  We went over standard procedure for an audition, read some character lines, did some video gaming lines, and finished on commercials.  We also went over my newly created voice demo, and I got some valuable insights for how to create better and more complete demos in the future.  As someone trying to get into this very competitive business I would strongly urge anyone to give Kyle’s Session a try.  It’s cheap compared to anything else out there, and the things you can take away from it could be absolutely invaluable, I know they were for me.

Kyle was straightforward and open in his evaluation. I received so much information during the session, that I am still processing it all almost a week later! He gave advice and direction on character voices in anime and video games, and gave a great snapshot of what an audition really sounds like.  Even more importantly, he put me instantly at ease and, though we worked and talked the entire hour, I had a blast.  His offering of exceptional insight, direction and advice with a healthy dose of honesty was all right with me, and definitely well worth the money and time.

I still remember when I first heard about his consultations when I helped out an Another Anime Con just last year. I was going back and forth on whether I should ask him for his help or not because I really had no voice over experience in the past. In fact, the whole idea of VO was a new step for me, as I graduated with a science background, and a minor in geek (and no, that is not a typo, though it’s not on the official transcript). I did breakdown however, and paid for the help, and I was lucky to catch him in a two for one special.

After nearly 2 or so weeks of sitting on those lessons, I finally set the date and was really looking forward to talking with him. The day of though, my nerves started to get the better of me, and I found myself shaking and nearly unable to talk when he sent me the message saying he was ready to go. Within five minutes of receiving that call, it was less of a fan talking to a celebrity, and more of two people just having a conversation. He immediately calmed me down, got me into the work, and we went from there. The first session we has was for character work, which was what I was really interested in, and after that, he told me I had the potential.

The second session was for more radio commercial work, but even after that, he was impressed with what he heard, and he made sure to say so. And when I asked for his honest opinion, he was up front in his views. He said I had a great starting point, but that nothing was going to happen within the month, or even the next year or two. He pointed me in some directions that I should look more help, and sent me on my way.

The only thing I would have to say is to make sure you guys keep on track. I’m not sure how it is with his other clients, but I know that if I hit a tangent, I could just talk for hours about nothing, as we did lose time that way. But he wasn’t too strict on his time limits. I would watch as my clicker would add another ten minutes and he would still let me ask that one question that was bothering me.

This is a great start to those of you who are thinking this may be something you can do. He will give you a frank opinion, and then steer you in the right direction as to go from there. And for those of you who are still on the fence, just go with it. And those who HAVE bought and are sitting on the session, set them up now. And lastly for those who HAVE paid, and HAVE set up an appointment, relax. He’s a cool guy.

This is a great launching point in potentially my new career, and I would high recommend it to anyone who is thinking about starting something like this. Good luck to everyone out there, and a big thanks to Kyle.

Maybe I’m mistaken but don’t people usually have to pay extra for convenience? Either way, Kyle’s voice consultation was worth far more than the price I paid for a slew of reasons. I’m only just recently pursuing a career in voice work and had already done some preliminary research. Despite that I was still a bit at a loss of where to start. Kyle really helped to give me a bearing of sorts and gave me some firsthand advice on how some things work in the industry, such as the general way one does an audition. He also offered me some great resources to look into. Beyond all that, just doing some exercises with Kyle was a lot of fun, good practice and he gave me some much desired and honest feedback. I now have a better idea of where my abilities stand and what I still need to do. These consultations are a great place to start if you’re just starting to search for a career in voice work.

I’ve been interested in voice acting for over a year now, my first real introduction to the way the industry worked was from a small workshop at Mikomicon 2008- which was lead by Kyle. As soon as I found out he was offering private sessions at an affordable price, I had to sign up right away! After taking Voice Acting lessons from Kyle Hebert, I’ve gained a great deal of knowledge and insight. He was charming and polite but more importantly – HONEST and helpful. He will let you know when something just doesn’t work and then give you helpful advice to help you improve.

There’s no pressure to continue with the lessons, but I’ve already decided to schedule another one- I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS for anyone who is interested in Voice Acting. I was kind of stuck in a middle spot where I wasn’t a complete beginner, but I also wasn’t ready for the big leagues (and big money voice coaches!)- This was just what I needed. I’ve now been given the opportunity to meet with a professional studio- this chance has nothing to do with these lessons, but Kyle Hebert’s advice has definitely helped me prepare for it and know what to expect!

The consultation with Kyle was invaluable. Not only did I learn about the essential steps needed to break into voiceover, but I learned exactly where the industry is right now and in what direction it’s heading. Kyle is not only a seasoned professional voice actor, but he’s honest and frank: you can expect a professional evaluation of your vocal range, where you need to be in sustaining a believable performance, and what you need to do to achieve that. Kyle worked with me on analyzing the script to gage what the client wants from my delivery. He had me adjust my performance in keeping with the clients’ needs and/or the director’s expectations. He worked with me intensively on several commercial scripts, both cold reading and prepared scripts. I learned what the trends in commercial voiceover are right now and just as importantly, what directors and clients are NOT looking for in a performance.

One thing that really sticks out in my mind is that Kyle went out of his way to help me get off the ground by googling acting and improv workshops that are offered in my town–there aren’t any, but from this there’s no doubt that Kyle wants you to succeed in breaking in and breaking even. So whether you live in No Voice-land, USA where there are no classes whatsoever or LA where you’ve taken workshops and classes by the fistful, take a session with Kyle. Your career and your wallet will thank you that you did.

I live outside of the area where I can get work for right now, but my first time in front of a microphone inspired me to want to become part of the voice over industry, over the past few years I’ve always asked advice of Kyle on what I should do to properly learn what I need to do to work up to it.

I took a few acting classes, but I’ve always wanted Kyle to teach us what he knows, because just asking his advice always helped me. I like to read for things, but there never seemed to be anyone who could listen to my work and give me an honest, professional opinion. So I jumped at working with Kyle when he began this and was in fact his very first student I guess you could say, listening to his opinion and just reading for him so I could find out where I’m at in learning this meant a lot to me.

He’s not someone who will ever promise you things he can’t deliver on. In fact asking him when should I put together a demo, he honestly said “you are not ready yet.” and I honor that. I know that I won’t do anything until I know and feel that I am absolutely ready to do so. If any of you out there are questioning doing this, please book something with him and do it, you’ll enjoy hearing his honest opinion, I know I did! as soon as I’m able to afford doing it again, I absolutely will!

I feel I got my money’s worth and then some. Kyle was great very patient, able to direct me in a manner that brought out the best in my voice. I was at the point that I was having doubts about making this career work for me. Directing yourself just does not work for me, I need someone to sound off to for feedback, I get lonely behind the mic (ha, ha) Kyle you found things in me that I could not, thank you. I am interested in anything you might offer, I got a feeling of genuine compassion from you Kyle, you really care for people and it is reflected in your voice. There are few people in this world that are not just about the MONEY, and it is refreshing to meet someone like you. I am usually a good judge of character, I feel you are the person to help me further my career.
