“JAMES CAMERON’S AVATAR” FOR THE WII

I’m very pleased to announce my involvement in this Wii exclusive game, based on James Cameron’s upcoming sci fi epic, “Avatar”.   I voice the playable character of Rai ‘uk, a Na ‘vi warrior on the planet Pandora.   I recorded the game in the summertime and have been anxious for its arrival (and the movie for years!).   I want to kick a shout out to Jesse Thind, the writer/director on the game who conceived of the original storyline, set years before the movie.    Also of note, the Wii version is an original adventure, as opposed to a direct tie-in and is different than the game developed for the PS3 and Xbox 360.   I had an absolute blast recording over the course of two 4-hour sessions (though I hear much was cut for the final release, sniff).

I just got my copy and I’m anxious to see how it all turns out, and I’m definitely psyched for the movie.   Most of all, I’m extremely proud to be associated with a James Cameron property.  Let me know if you check it out!

CON APPEARANCE UPDATE AND HAPPY TURKEY DAY!

Big high five to the con staff and attendees at Another Anime Con, up in New Hampshire.  Myself, and my podcast gang, had a great time.  After meeting such awesome people, dare say, I’ll be going through withdrawal til the end of 2009.  But, time marches on, so visit the APPEARANCES page for the latest 2010 updates!  San Fran, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Dallas, Minneapolis, I’ll be seeing you soon!

Remember, if you don’t see anything close to you listed, and you’d like to see me as a guest, please email your local con staff and request me.  The Big Bald Broadcast is lined up to do another show at Tekkoshocon in April, but we’d love to bring audio candy to more cons!  Can’t do a show without Otherworld Steve and Engineer Marc, and we’re all jonesing to get out there and pimp more cons and mingle with more fans.  We tossed out a TON of Funimation DVDs at Another Anime Con, as well as Steve’s band, Perimeter of the Void CDs.  Who knows what other swag will materialize?

As we enter the holiday weekend, its a time to reflect on the blessings in our lives.  I am extremely thankful for all the fans, friends, family, and opportunities I’ve been given this year.  While being a voice actor isn’t exactly a walk in the park, all of those elements keep me going in pursuit of the career that I love.  May you and yours have a rockin’ awesome Thanksgiving!  And may you survive Black Friday with a shiny HD TV and a loaded laptop.

PROJECT UPDATE AND FINAL APPEARANCE OF 2009…..

Well, the project I had alluded to before, where I got to record with Billy West and Grey Delisle has been airing.  And I got a heads up about it actually by reading on tech websites.  Its the Verizon commercial featuring the Island of Misfit Toys.  The iPhone shows up to the island and is told that it’ll fit right in there since its coverage map isn’t as great as Verizon.  I recorded as the choo choo train, but unfortunately got cut from the spot.  He’s in there but only in a long shot amongst other toys in the background.  Have to admit, I’m pretty bummed, but I got paid, and ultimately that’s the important thing.  Its still a recording memory I will cherish forever.  Meanwhile, as always, auditioning constantly so my voice is being heard.  Something will stick eventually.  Always does.

Now onto more positive news.  Got several projects you can hear me on:

“Monster” :  airing on Syfy.  I voiced Maurer, the journalist.  I will come back in a later story arc as another episodic character.

“Naruto:  Shipuuden” :   on Disney XD.  My character, Kiba, will show up a few months from now.

“Blade of the Immortal”:   based on the manga.  The first volume is out on dvd.  I voice Shido.

“Dragonball Z:  Raging Blast” :  While the rest of the world is going gaga over “Modern Warefare 2″, the Saiyans are back, including myself as teen Gohan and the Narrator.   Out now on PS3 and Xbox360.

“Magnum Farce”:   this CG spoof of “Dirty Harry” featuring myself as Blivit the Sniper, is screening at the LA Comedy Festival, this upcoming Monday evening at the Acme Theater in Los Angeles.  For more info, visit www.LAComedyFest.com.

Lastly, my final appearance of the year will be at Another Anime Con in Nashua, New Hampshire.  My podcast cohosts, Otherworld Steve and Marc Swint will be on board as well.  We’ll be recording a  Big Bald Broadcast panel on Saturday afternoon at the con at 2p.  Its happening next weekend!  If you’re in the Boston area, truck on over.  Would love to see ya!

YOUMACON & “NARUTO: SHIPUUDEN”

Off to Detroit, Michigan for a return trip…Dearborn, technically, for Youmacon.  I’ll have a new Anime Radio panel script for the VA guests to cold read together, plus new audition sides for the Anime Auditions panel featuring characters from “Bleach”.   I’m getting in late Friday night, so if ya want a better chance at catching me, come on Saturday or Sunday. Here’s my current panel schedule (keep in mind, things could change):

Saturday

Noon………Anime Radio (Panel 1)

1p…………..Anime Auditions (Panel 4)

2p…………..Autographs (Second Level Lobby)

SUNDAY

10a…………Autographs (Second Level Lobby)

Did you catch “Naruto:  Shipuuden” on Disney XD?  I know a lot of fans are complaining about edits, but let’s face it, its a kids’ cable channel.  The Japanese want to get their shows on TV and to do so, compromises must be made.  The uncut version of the show is already coming out (volume 1 came out a month ago).  Getting this kind of mainstream exposure is just what anime needs to survive.  I always say an edited dub should really just be considered a giant commercial.   I recently wrapped another recording session for the show with director, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, and had a blast as always.  Mary as well as Steve Blum (Orochimaru) will be upcoming guests on my podcast, The Big Bald Broadcast, before year’s end.
